Last night, one of my colleagues invited me to join her at a dinner at the Rajpoute, just across the border in Ornex, which is reputed to be the best Indian restaurant in the region. The dinner was in honour of one of her friends, a corporate banker and keen photographer, whose most recent photographs are currently on show in the restaurant. While the subject matter - sailing, details of boats and all things maritime - did not inspire me particularly, with the exception of some fabulous portraits, I was certainly impressed by the technical expertise.
I have been flirting for some time - OK, since I began this blog, basically - with the idea of starting a third site on which to publish photographs which don't fit into the whole Paternal Optimist thing, and this evening spent looking at someone else's photos was probably the final little nudge I needed. I'll start exploring seriously this weekend, and some time soon you'll probably hear more about The Third Blog.
I can't believe I'm already thinking about starting yet another blog ! Still, Typepad makes it all so easy, and besides, I'm talking about a site on which I probably won't post more than ten or twenty times a year, the idea being only to post those photos which I think merit being shared. Plus, as a colleague said to me today at work, this blog has now taken off, taken on a life of its own, and there's really not much effort required to maintain it, as long as I adhere to the simple rule : post when I have something to say or news to impart; otherwise, just give the keyboard a rest.
