Those of you who are easily shocked - particularly those of you in full-time employment with normal working hours and standard vacation entitlements - please look away now...
Yes, that's right : since midday yesterday, precisely three weeks before Good Friday, the Boy Wonder has officially been on his school holidays, and is now enjoying a few days at home (while, much to their chagrin, Button and Schmoo continue to toil over their textbooks) before he comes to join the PO in Switzerland next Wednesday.
The BW professes to being tired and says he needs the break, and it is true that even as term was drawing to a close there was no let-up in his busy schedule. On Tuesday, for example, he and the entire Hogwarts population made the trip to Birmingham, where the school symphony orchestra, featuring the BW on viola, performed a concert at the Symphony Hall as part of the Hogwarts 450th birthday celebrations. On the programme were numerous favourites from the Last Night of the Proms, including Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance, and the BW thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing in a full-size concert hall.
The end of term also means school reports, of course, and though the PO has not yet received his copy, the BW has already given him a sneak preview of a few of his grades : a 1A in English and another in Music; 1B in Maths; and a 2C in Physics. He was naturally a little disappointed by this last grade. But he was positively incensed by the comments that went with it, which he says were "a word-for-word copy-paste of what was written on my last report." He even thought about sending a sarcastic e-mail to the DP in question, but thankfully thought better of it.
Still, overall he sounded happy enough with the latest judgment from the Hogwarts DPs.
"Your English teacher seems to be pleased with you," the PO said.
"Yes," replied the BW with his usual effusiveness.
"I heard you wrote a really good piece about the aerial photograph taken of the whole school making the Hogwarts logo. I'd love to read it."
"Yes, the teacher thought it was really funny," said the BW. He paused for a moment before adding, "I thought it was rubbish."
"Rubbish ?"
"Yes. Compared with some of the other things I've written, anyway. Sometimes it's really difficult because other people think things I've written are really good, when I think they're rubbish. And things I think are good, they don't like as much."
Welcome to the world of the writer, BW. Welcome to my world.
